Elementary School Teacher, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and spiritual counselor to many souls Joanne M. Williams “JO JO” or when you asked if she was alright or fine she would say no I am “So Fine” and yes she was in and out. Our mother entered her heavenly home on March 26, 2015 in Mesa, Arizona at the age of 81.

Joanne Williams was born in Kansas City, Missouri on September 26, 1933. She moved to Chicago, Illinois and married George Leon Williams.

Joanne Williams is survived by her children Cheryl Ann Williams of San Tan Valley, AZ, Deidra Elise Burke of Chandler, AZ (husband) Ulus “Trey” Burke and Uvina Leone Williams of Chicago, IL. Grandchildren – Desiree Cherylise Williams, Deon Cortez Martin, Dorian Quinn Williams (wife) Amber Williams, Devan Jamal Burke, and LaToya Johnson. Great Grandchildren – Naveyh Marie Williams and Kameel Elise Williams. Special men of the family – Ricardo Martin, Spencer Shumate, and Akil Ammons.  Her nieces – Debra Miller-Harris and family and Cynthia Miller Koroma and family. Her special buddy “Shorty” (family pet). Joanne is preceded in death by George Leon Williams (husband) and Jorgetta Loree Williams (daughter) Hurda Miller (mother), Adolph Miller Jr. (brother) and Adolph Miller Sr. (father).

Joanne Williams attended University of Illinois Champagne and received her Bachelor’s of Education degree from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL and taught in the Chicago Public Schools for more than 40 years.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Friday, April 3, 2015 at San Tan Mountain View Funeral Home at 21809 S. Ellsworth Road, Queen Creek, Arizona 85142, with a reception to follow at same location. Don Runyon will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Joanne’s life.
