Paul W. Lennen was born in Troy, New York, to William and Marion (Van Herpe) Lennen, on August 29, 1950. Paul and his lifelong friend, Michael Bowen, attended school and graduated from La Salle Military Academy, in Troy. Paul attained an A.S. degree from Hudson Valley Community College and served in the New York Army National Guard from 1969-1975.

After graduation, Paul traveled to Santa Fe, New Mexico to visit Michael, which led to a 24-year law enforcement career. One year was served with the Rensselaer County Sheriff Department and the remainder in Santa Fe. Paul worked and supervised numerous PD assignments and Divisions, including Patrol, Investigations, Traffic, K9, DUI, Recruiting and Training, Community Relations, S.W.A.T., and Firearms Instructor. He retired at the rank of Captain, overseeing the Administrative Division, having graduated from the Northwestern University Traffic Institute for Police Staff and Command. Paul will be remembered for his untiring support of subordinate staff and peers, assisting numerous officers in achieving supervisory or command rank, to include Chief or Assistant or Deputy Chief of Police.

Paul was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Marion; his younger brother, John Lennen; and his brother-in-law, Ken Coonradt. Paul is survived by his wife, Beverly; siblings, Donna (John) Olsen, Pam (Ken) Coonradt, and Bill Lennen (Diane Eagle); daughter, Skye Lynne; son, Robert (Nadine) Montoya; grandchildren, Anissa, Mariah, Isaiah and Noah Montoya; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. A Catholic Mass, burial and gathering to celebrate Paul’s life (wake) are TBD, due to Covid-19 restrictions. Contributions, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the American Cancer Society.
