Richard “Dick” Selby, 73, died on April 30, 2015, in San Tan Valley, Arizona. Dick loved his family very much. He leaves behind his wife, Gloria; his Richard Selby photoson, Rick (Redmond, WA); his daughter, Jennifer (Petaluma, CA); his son, Eric (San Francisco, CA); his son-in-law, Marc Greenburg; his two granddaughters, Maya and Sadie Greenberg; his brother, Edward Barkley; his sister, Carol Hawes; as well as numerous sisters and brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Harry Selby, and his step-father, Bill Barkley.

Dick earned both a Bachelor’s of Science and a Master’s degree from the University of Washington in the field of mechanical engineering. He went on to enjoy a 20 year career at Northrup Grumman and he loved his work family. Previous to that he also worked at Sandia Labs, Boeing, General Electric and AP Engineering. Dick was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams included the Washington Huskies, the San Francisco Forty-Niners, and the San Francisco Giants. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, wood working and building computers.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 1:00pm at San Tan Mountain View Funeral Home in Queen Creek, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dick’s name to the College of Engineering at the University of Washington, Seattle, WA.
