Ismael “Mel” Cervantes age 78 of San Tan Valley went home to be with The Lord on January 15th 2021. Ismael was born on April 22nd, 1942 in San Antonio Texas to Consuelo and Celestino Cervantes . He came to California at a young age seeking opportunity and worked different jobs before he worked as a Cook at The Reef Restaurant in Long Beach. Mel went back to Texas to marry The Love of his life, Mary and brought her back to California on their honeymoon to start their new life together . They later moved to Apple Valley California to raise a family .  Mel made a career in the Construction Industry as a Cement Finisher and loved it. He retired from Cement Finishers local 500 to San Tan Valley Arizona with his wife, Mary of 60 years. Mel enjoyed listening to music, playing golf, cooking meals for all of his guests, attending services at Heart Cry Church and loved spending time with his family and friends. Mel was a joyful man with a welcoming smile and made friends wherever he went. Mel was proceeded in death by his parents Celestino, Consuelo and Rebecca. Mel is survived by his wife Mary, his Children Emma Johnson ,Elva Siens(Gary), Edward Cervantes(Patty); Grandchildren Melissa Cadena(Adam)Gabriel Vigil (Crystal), Carlos Hernandez (Angelica), Adrian Hernandez (Karen), Isaiah Siens, Josiah Siens, Natalie Cervantes and Valerie Cervantes. Great Grandchildren; Nicholas, Sienna &Lila Cadena, Kamilah & Aria Vigil, Nicole &Dominic Hernandez, Troy & Aubri Hernandez. Sisters Susana Feiler(Mike), Jesusita Garcia, Elida Moreno(Gilbert) and Brothers Ernesto Cervantes(Teresa), Celestino Cervantes (Terri) . Mel is survived by his Aunties, numerous nieces, nephews, many cousins and countless friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at Heart Cry Church 9339 W. Hunt HWY , Queen Creek Arizona 85142, Saturday February 13,2021 at 11am.

    My nephew Mel, God needed another Angel, who was a good Cement Finisher. His uncle Rudy was there to help him. Mel will be missed by all of the family for his contagious laugh and sense of humor. Rest In Peace and Perpetual Light Shine Upon You. Until we meet again. ❤️ ❤️

    We met Mel shortly after moving to San Tan Valley and became friends right away. Mel was a forever friend, always there to lend a hand, sit and visit, tell stories and always a big smile on his face. Mel is greatly missed by so many and will always be in our hearts. Mel is with Our Lord now and will be watching over all his family and friends. We Love and miss you Mel.
