Keith Michael Smith, aged 40, passed away in Phoenix, AZ after a lengthy battle with cancer on July 16, 2018. He was born in Detroit, MI on April 2, 1978 to Roger Louis Smith and Michele Ann (Coman) Smith. Keith grew up in Harper Woods, MI until the age of 16 when his parents relocated their family to Gilbert, AZ. Keith was a 1997 graduate of Highland High School.

A hard worker, Keith started his career while in high school at Walgreen’s where he met Kate. The high school sweethearts married on February 21, 2003 and became the proud parents of sons Aaron (12) and Abram (11). Keith advanced to mid-management at Walgreen’s in the 12 years he was employed there. In 2006, Keith joined the family freight and warehousing business managing various accounts. An integral part of the family business, Keith excelled at management and was well liked by all who knew him.

Keith was a known sports fanatic and had a natural ability to play most. A huge University of Michigan fan, he often said he “bled blue.” He especially enjoyed baseball, playing in youth Little League and on school teams. He shared his love of baseball with his sons, coaching them in Little League, too. He encouraged his sons to try other sports, only wanting them to enjoy the sport and do their best.

Keith is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Dolly (Hawkins) Smith and maternal grandfather, Cornel Coman.

Keith is survived by his loving wife, Kate (Hiller); sons, Aaron and Abram; parents, Roger and Michele; grandmother, Vera Coman; brother, Stephen (Janelle); as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held August 10, 2018 between 4-7 p.m. at NOAH’s Event Venue, 2100 E. Yeager Drive, Chandler, AZ 85286. In honor of Keith, we are suggesting casual attire in blue and maize.

Should it be desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Keith to his sons Aaron and Abram’s college fund. Account information will be available shortly.
