Funeral Homes | What to Expect

Many people will have most of their funeral arrangements made before they pass, making the burden on family much lighter.  This may not always be possible, however, as death is often unexpected.  In such cases, there is no opportunity to make plans.  The first thing to do once a loved one has passed is look into your options for funeral homes.  Checking with friends and other family members to see if they have had good experiences with particular funeral homes, such as Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery, can be very helpful.  Once you have contacted the funeral home, the first conversation is likely to be very factual and will provide them with all of the basic information of the deceased.  They will need information like full name, birth date, social security number, cause of death and where the body is located.  The funeral director will also set up the first appointment to meet with you in person.  At this time, the funeral home will need the remainder of the information for the death certificate.

After all of the information has been gathered, a decision must be made between burial and cremation.  Several items must be taken into consideration at this point, including the budget for the burial preparation and actual burial.  The funeral director can counsel you in all of the options in order to help make this process as easy as possible.

Once all of these decisions have been made, it is time to plan the funeral and burial services.  This is the time to decide who will preside over the services, whether others will be given a chance to share memories, what types of photos to display and music that will be included.  This is also the time to decide who will be the pallbearers and if others will participate in the service in any way.  Reflecting on the life of your loved one and sharing memories can help you and your family process this difficult situation and can bring comfort.

Contact Mountain View Funeral Home to assist you and your family and make this difficult process go as smoothly as possible.
