Bennie J. Roberts, 76, died on December 4, 2014, at his home in Queen Creek, AZ. He died peacefully, surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer.
Mr. Roberts was born in East Prairie, Missouri on November 17, 1938, the son of MaeBelle and Lilbert Roberts. He worked as an electrician for Phelps Dodge Corp. for 26 years in Ajo, AZ, and then moved his family to Queen Creek, AZ, where he worked as an electrician for SRP at Santan Generating Station for 16 years, until his retirement in January, 2001.
Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kay Roberts; son Edward “Buzz” and daughter-in-law Yvette; son Ronald and daughter-in-law Susan; brother Rueben “RD” and his wife Arlene; his lifelong friend Norman Gollihar and his wife Julie, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother MaeBelle and his father Lilbert, as well as his brother Ricardo and his sister Joyce (Roberts) Schneck.
He loved his family, animals, hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and doing his building projects around the home.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 13th at 10:00am at San Tan Mountain View Funeral Home, followed by a gathering at Kay and Bennie’s home. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the Wounded Warriors Project or the American Cancer Society in his name.
