Mary Ann (Bender) Davies, 74, of San Tan Valley, AZ (previously of Port Washington and Sugarcreek, OH) went to be with her Lord Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Caissa Assisted Living in Gilbert, AZ. She was born July 1, 1940 in Port Washington, OH to the late Lloyd and Olive (Tony) Bender. She married her high school sweet heart Gary Gene Davies on August 15, 1959. She is survived by her husband, Gene; one brother, James Bender of Columbus, OH; son, Scott (Tammy) Davies of Gilbert AZ; daughter, Holly (Sidney) Smith of Casselberry FL; grandchildren, Benjamin and Holly Diehl, both of Casselberry, FL, Meghan Davies (friend Anthony Reyes) of Gilbert, AZ, and Christopher (Kimberly) Vinyard of Mesa, AZ; and three great-grandchildren, Jackson Diehl of FL and Ella Davies and Connor Vinyard of AZ. Mary worked for the Belden Brick Co., then the Seaman Corp. in Millersburg and Wooster, OH until she retired in 2003. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ of Sugarcreek, OH where she served on the consistory as an elder and served on the Friends of The Church committee, raising funds for the rebuild of the sanctuary. She was also a knitter, making prayer shawls, and served on various other committees. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and caring for all the backyard birds.
Mary’s wish was to be cremated. Services are pending with Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek, OH.
