Shirley Ann (Malone) Hraha died Monday, October 10, 2016 at her home in Queen Creek, AZ. She was 79 years old. Shirley was born July 25, 1937 in Parkersburg, West Virginia, to Delma Elizabeth Sams and Clarence Malone. Prior to being a mother and homemaker, she joined the Army Corps (WAC) where she met and married Francis Michael Hraha in 1956 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. The couple lived in Germany before settling down in Iowa where they had four children. As a young wife and mother, Shirley’s career was in modeling. In 1989, they divorced and Shirley moved back to her hometown. Later, Shirley moved to Colorado and in 2002 she moved to Arizona due to health reasons. Shirley loved flowers, birds (especially hummingbirds), reading, her cats, and her home. But more than anything, she loved her family and her grandchildren, going to church, angels, and her Lord Jesus Christ!
Shirley was preceded in death by both of her parents; her ex-husband, Francis Michael Hraha; one sister, Jackie Malone; and her granddaughter, Tiffany (Hraha) Myers. Survivors include one son, Michael Hraha; three daughters, Tere (Hraha) Rope and husband Dave Rope, Mary (Hraha) Wessler, Beth (Hraha) Egan and husband Bob Egan; six grandchildren, Nick Wessler, Josh Rope, Jeremiah Egan, Abi Rope, Sarah Rope and Sam Egan; and one great-grandson, Taryn (Myers) Olmeda. Services will be held at 5:00pm, Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at San Tan Mountain View Funeral Home. Contributions can be made to The Rockpoint Church (Queen Creek, AZ) building fund in Shirley Hraha’s name.
