Dennis Kent Harris
Born: July 13, 1934 in Gaylord, Minnesota
Died: July 20, 2017 in Gilbert, Arizona
Dennis is survived by his wife, Anne; sons, Kent of Mesa, Arizona, Joel of Queen Creek, Arizona, and Andrew of Twisp, Washington; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Dennis joined the US Army in 1956 and served in Japan. Afterwards, he met Anne Lawrence and was married June 12, 1965. Before working on their Master’s degrees, they taught in Alaska for four years, then on the Navajo reservation in Arizona for 21 years. He and Anne retired to northern New Mexico, where he substitute taught at several schools in the area until age 81. During his retirement years, he developed his skills with stained glass into a fine art and personal passion. He was also an extraordinary and passionate cook and baker, whose confections were revered by all who were lucky enough to grace his table. His warm, outgoing personality won him many friends, as did his heart of gold. He will be remembered and deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. He was a free spirit who always viewed the glass as full.
Annie on behalf our extended family I offer condolences. Over the years I have enjoyed the pictures of you and Dennis. I will miss his smile.
