Lawrence Louis Majewski, Jr.

Lawrence Louis Majewski (Larry) born June 29, 1950 and died January 20, 2019 at 4:06am.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Louis Majewski Sr. and Gloria Temen.  Larry is survived by his wife, Kathy Majewski (Wagner); his children, Jim Baker (Tabitha), Tim Baker (Heather), Kelly Majewski, Heather Majewski and David Majewski; grandchildren, Gavyn, Austin, Logan, Harper, Lila, Josef, Skyler, Jaden, David, Mason and soon to be 11th grandchild in May of this year.  Larry had six other siblings:  Michael (deceased), Louis (deceased), Steven (deceased), Philip (deceased), Sandra (deceased), and survived by Trisha.

Larry served in the Military from 1969-1973. He enlisted to join his brothers in the Vietnam War but could not serve because he already had two brothers there, so he was sent to Germany and then Korea and finally back to Germany. He received the Good Conduct medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea) and National Defense Service Medal. He was very proud to serve his country.

Our story began in early January of 1994. We met at my old place of work (Jewel Food Store) in Darien, IL.  When he introduced himself to me I was off work and shopping and stopped at service desk and he introduced himself and I was so nervous and taken aback that I ran out of the store with my cart and all…he loved this story so much and reminded me of this goofy moment all the time.  We had our first date on January 14, 1994 and so our story began. We joined our two families together (he with 3 kids and me with 2) and did our best to make it work.  There were many ups and downs, laughs and tears but always love in the end.

We married on January 12, 1996 and started our journey together for better or for worse and there were plenty of both, like most married couples, but always told each other we were best friends forever.  He was my best friend.  He worked at the Water Reclamation District of Chicago and I worked at Julian Electric in Westmont IL and we began to put our life together and bought a house in Plainfield, IL in 1998.  He remodeled the entire house by himself and it was so beautiful and just the way we wanted it…he was so proud. Larry was a “master carpenter” and if you saw his work you would agree he knew his craft.  He would help anybody out and would make anything they wanted the “Majic” way…

We traveled many places over the years, including camping trips with the kids to Southern Illinois, Wisconsin etc. (many stories from those, I will spare you the details), Florida, Ixtapa Mexico, Arizona, and our very favorite, Tennessee. We went to Nashville and had the time of our lives but our favorite was the Smoky Mountains. We rented a cabin at crazy elevation and were in our glory.  We played our favorite tunes (“Turn the Page” was our song), sang, cooked out on our deck, went hiking, boating and took a helicopter ride.  It was the best time of our lives!  This is what he loved and I was on board 100 percent.  How I will miss those times.

We sold our house in September of 2016 and started our next adventure in Arizona where we decided to retire and enjoy. We moved in December of 2016 and started our new venture together.  We went to Sedona, Tombstone, Tuscon, Flagstaff and Williams, AZ which was his absolute favorite.  It was in our plans to do much more traveling within the state, but God had other plans I guess.  Larry was active, vibrant, very opinionated (hard but fair as he would say), kept busy all the time, so this whole nightmare took us by storm.

The entire family will miss him and love him forever! He is partying in heaven with his brothers and my Dad right now.  You were right baby, “you’ll miss me when I’m gone” and I so do…I love you and you were my best friend and love.

RIP honey…..til we meet again, and you better save a spot right next to you.
