Julie Ann (McLean) Christiansen, originally from Benedict, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2019 after a long struggle with Lymphoma. Her husband of nearly 60 years was, as he always has been, by her side.
Larry and Julie were married July 10, 1959 and wasted no time starting their family. Julie is survived by her husband, Dr. Larry Christiansen, her daughter, Jennifer (Christiansen) Armstrong and her husband Robert Armstrong from San Diego, her son, Lon Christiansen from Stromsburg, her son, Lee Christiansen and his wife Theresa (Stephens) Christiansen from York, and her daughter, Jill Christiansen from Queen Creek, Arizona. Julie’s pride and joy was to talk about her six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who also survive her. She remained close to, and is also survived by, her sister Lottie (McLean) Johnson and Lottie’s husband, Carl Johnson, from Stromsburg, and her brother, Jim McLean and Jim’s wife Alice (Miller) McLean, originally from Benedict, now from Yuma, AZ.
Julie was born in Benedict on December 15, 1940 to Ralph and Maxine (Howard) McLean. She will be remembered for her generosity, sense of humor and the fun she could bring to just about any setting. She loved living and working on the family farm in Bradshaw, raising their family. After a number of years on the farm, Larry and Julie moved to Arizona. Whether in Nebraska or Arizona, Julie participated in and lead any number of church related groups and activities. Her contributions to her church community will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service, to celebrate her life, will take place at the Stromsburg Evangelical Church, on Saturday, April 20th at 11am.
