Margie Rivas quietly passed away on May 25, 2022. She was born on March 22, 1966, in Artesia, California. Preceding her in death was her father, David Rivas. Survived by her mother, Margarita Rivas, David (brother), Tenise (sister), Herman (brother), Xavier (brother), Jennifer (sister), Sophia (sister) and Sonia (sister) and her five beautiful children, Anthony James, Marissa Elizabeth, William Paul, Vanessa Tenise and David Daniel. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews.
In her early years, she attended Evergreen Elementary, East Whittier Middle School and graduated from Whittier High School in 1984. One of her passions was playing volleyball, she was a great team player and fierce competitor. She was voted MVP in the school year 1979-80 due to her love of the sport, teamwork and athletic talent. A plaque with her name on it still appears on the walls inside the gym at East Whittier Middle School. She later went on to play varsity volleyball and softball at Whittier High School. She then attended California State University, Long Beach prior to her marriage to E-4 Corporal, William “Billy” Gomez of the United States Marines and the start of their family.
Throughout her life she loved listening to music, rummaging through thrift shops and collecting miniature trinkets, earrings and hat boxes. Her favorites items include her Woody, Jessie & Bullseye figurines. Most recently, she loved her job as a bookkeeper and her bedroom which she called her “Sanctuary”.
Private services will be held on Friday, June 3rd, 2022 in Queen Creek, Arizona.
My heart is broken to hear of Margie’s passing, I knew her well in high school along with Tenise and Billy , we were a tight knit group for a while and we had such good times, Margie was fun to be around, we had great times, she was so funny and very caring friend. I’m sorry to hear of her passing.
