David Robert Warner, 57, of San Tan Valley, AZ, passed away on July 21, 2022 at his home. Mr. Warner, a production manager, was born in San Diego, CA.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Warner; his daughters, Cristina (Nina) Warner and Rebecca (Becca) Warner; his parents, Bob and Joanne Warner; his sisters, Nancy and Kim; his brother, Joe; and his grandchildren, Khloe, Aryah, Raider, Ivy and Alaki.
Dave was raised in Lakewood, CA. It was here that he met his future wife in 1982. By 1988, he and Kathy tied the knot and began their adventure through life together. Their life adventure took them northward to Sacramento, CA and then onward to Stanwood, WA. The reason for these moves were for employment opportunity. Dave was a provider for his family and took pride and relished in being able to support his wife and kids. With the kids grown, Dave and Kathy moved to Arizona in 2020 to start preparing for retirement.
Along the way of these relocations, Dave gathered up so many friends. He was a big kid, a big tease, he had a wry sense of humor and was the life of the party. He always knew how to make everyone feel special and could light up a room. Dave was one of the greatest, most loving and giving people. If you were in with Dave, you were no longer a friend to him, you were part of his chosen family, or “framily”, as he called it. Once you were part of that, it meant that he was there for you for anything you might need help with. You could count on Dave.
Dave was an avid hunter, camper, traveler and cigar smoker. In the earlier years it was camping and hunting that were the passion. As he got older, it was the traveling to resorts and cruises that made him happy. For all of them, he had a cigar or two with him. In 2018, Dave, along with Kathy and friends, was able to travel to Cuba and purchase cigars there. It was a highlight for his passion of cigar loving.
Dave’s proudest achievement in life was being Kathy’s “person”. For thirty-four years of marriage and the ups and downs in life, they had each other. The laughter and joy they shared over their life together were always on display for anyone who met them. They raised two daughters together, and Dave was very proud of the women they have become.
Outside of being a husband to Kathy and a father to Nina and Becca, Dave was Poppy to his grandkids. Dave loved being Poppy. From taking a crying child and being the “baby whisperer” and calming them down, to getting on the floor to play Barbies with a granddaughter, Dave loved his grandkids and wore the title of Poppy with an incredible pride.
Dave will be remembered and cherished by those who knew him and loved him. Whether you choose to remember him dressed up as the tooth fairy for Halloween, or the guy having a lot of fun at a party, or the man standing at the BBQ grilling away, or the guy just sitting in the chair smoking a cigar; you will have a big smile on your face because that is what Dave brought to your life.
R.I.P. Mr. David Warner. You were a friend to all, a father to your daughters, a Poppy to your grandkids and Kathy’s “person” and you will forever be missed by all.
I will always remember Dave and the “Watermelon Challenge” of 2015. I love the slow-motion video we have of the exploding fruit. I have a picture of Bryce, sleeping on Dave’s shoulder, drooling, while he drove. It is so sweet. Peace be with you Dave, and your beautiful family.
Dave was one of my favorite people in the world! He will sorely be missed! Sending love to his family.
