Samuel V Cole Roberts

August 5, 2001 – September 22, 2026

Samuel V Cole Roberts, 25, of Queen Creek, Arizona, was tragically and unexpectedly lost on September 22, 2026.

Born August 5, 2001, in Chandler, Arizona, to Damon Blaine Roberts and Angela Renae Rees, Sam was the first boy and second child in a family of six children. Sam brought an extraordinary combination of humor, creativity, tenderness, and life into the world. Growing up, Sam loved legos, singing, acting, ballroom dancing, playing guitar, swimming and boating. He also could often be found playing Wii with his family, or riding bikes outside with his friends.

Sam started his education at Desert Mountain Elementary, then attended American Leadership Academy for Middle School and High School. While attending ALA, he participated in seminary, ballroom dance, photography, and theatre. After graduating high school, Sam served a Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 2021. Upon his return, Sam took a few classes through Grand Canyon University, then joined Brigham Young University Idaho’s Pathways Program, and was on his way to completing his Bachelor’s of Science in Family and Human Services.

Sam was an aspiring actor, and a gifted singer and songwriter. At the time of his death, he was preparing an audition for The Voice and had plans to pursue his dream of acting professionally. He had an eclectic love of music that stretched across the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, and 2000s. Sam loved to spend free time watching comedy and sitcoms. He was an avid gamer and enjoyed playing VR, especially when he could do so with his wife, parents, siblings and cousins. Samuel V Cole Roberts was vibrant, funny, resilient, and completely, unmistakably himself. 

Throughout his life, Sam lived with focal epilepsy. It sometimes placed profound limits on what he could safely do, but epilepsy never defined him. Sam adapted. He kept dreaming. He kept performing. He kept laughing. Sam always fought to live a full life, despite his seizures.That resilience was one of the most remarkable things about Sam.

More than anything, Sam valued his relationships. He was happiest when he was spending time with his family, being goofy and making people laugh. 

Sam was sealed to the love of his life, Sydney Marie Garbett, on March 30th 2024 in the Saratoga Springs temple. Sydney was Sam’s best friend, Sam adored her in every way. Samuel was a loving, caring and devoted husband.  For two and a half years Sydney and Sam shared a loving partnership of mutual devotion.  They created a lifetime of cherished memories that will never be forgotten.

Sam is survived by his wife, Sydney Marie Garbett, his mother, Angela Renae Rees; his father, Damon Blaine Roberts; his step mother; Danielle Louise Roberts and his siblings, Cassandra Bea Beatty, Payten Matthew Jenkins, Madysen Danielle Skousen, Olivia Cherise Roberts, Sydney Rees Roberts, Adallyn Danielle Jenkins, Simon Vincent Roberts, and Lily RaNae Roberts; and countless other family members and friends who had the benefit of knowing him.

Sam died on August 22, 2026, at the age of 25.
