Beverly Joann Smith was affectionately known to her family and friends, as Joann. She was born on December 9, 1950, in San Francisco, California, was the first of six children to Captory Randall. She attended elementary and middle schools in the San Francisco area.
In her early career Joann did some modeling professionally and would later join the Air Force Reserves and would be honorably discharged. Joann would go on to work for San Francisco Housing Authority for a number of years, followed by her relocating to New Orleans, Louisiana and she would work as a Medical Secretary at Tulane University for five years.
Joann would meet the love of her life at the tender age of 12yrs old, Harold Joseph Jackson in San Francisco, California. They were married in 1968 and to add to their union was her bonus son who she named DaShawn and welcomed him with open arms. To this union, Tahonna and Tonja were born.
Joann dedicated her life to Christ in 2009 at ACTS Christian Center in Maricopa, AZ under Pastors Rodney, and Sharon Logan where she loved to study the Word of the Lord through Bible Study as well as worship the Lord through her love of singing when she joined the choir. She would return back to California and would join Greater Praise under Pastor Percy and Lady Wynn and continue to study the word and would be a part of the choir, Welcome Committee and Women of Power. During her visits in Arizona, she would attend In His Presence Ministries and would become an honorary member and Mother of the Church and grow fondly of Pastors John and Shawanna Holland where she would come to think of them as her children. If you knew Joann you knew she loved watching her movies, dancing with her family members, acting silly and spending time with her children was always her most precious moments.
