Dane Allen Roney, 37, departed this earthly realm on June 9, 2025, when he was involved in an accident on his way to work.
For the past several years, Dane worked at Superstition Harley-Davidson in Apache Junction. There he found more than a job – he found community, brotherhood, and fulfillment. Dane was a devoted Harley-Davidson enthusiast who found joy, peace, and freedom on his bike, particularly on the open road. He spent countless hours riding – often alongside his dad (whom he affectionately liked to call “Pops,” to his father’s mild chagrin) and his close friends. In his own words: “If I died on my bike, then I died happy… because I’m not a pussy.”
Dane was born December 1, 1987, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. After high school, he completed training to be a certified Harley mechanic. He later served honorably in the U.S. Army from 2009-2013 as a SPC Cavalry Scout. During his time, Dane became a long-range marksman while earning his gold spurs succeeding 11 months of combat time in Afghanistan. After completing his military service, he earned an associate degree with a specialization in welding.
In 2021, Dane met Alyssa, his soulmate and best friend, and they married two years later. The two built a beautiful life together in San Tan Valley, Arizona, sharing unconditional love, constant banter, and unwavering support for each other. Together they became devoted “pet parents” to Nadja and Lilith, and Dane was every bit the doting and protective pet dad.
Dane was also a beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson, and friend. He held his friends and family close and loved with a rare depth – fiercely loyal and protective of those in his circle. He was a man of contrasts: intimidating at first glance with his stature and stoic presence, yet deeply thoughtful, generous, and hilariously witty to those who knew him. He had a sharp mind, approaching his beliefs and convictions with careful thought and standing firm in them.
Dane is survived by his loving wife, Alyssa (Lopez) Roney; parents, Scott and Cheryl (Hulbert) Roney; sisters, Savannah Roney and Addison (Roney) Flournoy; paternal grandparents, maternal grandmother, four nieces, and a wide circle of uncles, aunts, cousins, and close friends.
Dane’s absence leaves an enduring void, but his spirit will remain in the hearts of those who love him. His laughter, sharp wit, and unforgettable stories continue to echo, bringing laughter and joy even amidst sorrow. He is deeply loved and will be missed until we are all reunited in God’s perfect timing.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at 4 PM at Superstition Harley-Davidson, 2910 Apache Trail, Apache Junction, AZ 85120.
He was no pussy! A Great Man.
Dear Cheryl and family, my heart is heavy for what you are experiencing after the loss of your son! I am praying you will lean on each other and the support of your Heavenly Father who is already holding you! Keep leaning on Him even though the numbness is there at this time! God Bless you all! Love you much!
He will be missed! I wish I could be there for the ride. Dane was an amazing man. I wish he left his corn recipe though haha.
Scott & Cheryl, my heart is so heavy. I cannot imagine your pain. I pray you will always have wonderful memories of Dane until you meet him in heaven. Buffy, Jay & I love you & please know you have our heartfelt & deepest sympathy.
What a guy!! It’s so serendipitous life, that even if your introduced at the last moments, your still in their life. Are you grateful it happened or sad it wasn’t sooner? I’m truly blessed to have been in your lives, if even for a second, and forever wishful it was longer, and definitely under different circumstances. I wish you and your family the best, they maybe less without you on earth but are better that they had you in their lives!!
Praying for the Roneys. I had not seen Dane for nearly 20 years, but remember our time together through church and school fondly. He was hilarious, loyal and adventurous. So many great nights over at the Roney house. Even more impressed with what he did after HS, fighting for our country and forging a life out west. May God grant the Roney family peace and love.
