Daniel Ray Hines, 68, of Queen Creek, Arizona, passed away Monday, May 23, 2022- joining his son, Donald, 1 year later.
Dan was born in Anchorage, Alaska, while his father was serving in the Air Force. Dan joined the US Marines in Feb. 1972 and proudly served his country.
Dan married Carrie (Whiteaker) in 1983, where they lived in Apache Junction before moving to Queen Creek in 1995. This is where he had his first horse- Toots. His horse was a big part of his life- enjoying riding and roping. His family meant everything to him, along with all of his dogs and other animals over the years, but he also took time to enjoy riding his motorcycle and go hunting. Disneyland was a favorite of his and he loved is as much as Donald, but of course would never admit it!
Dan is survived by his loving wife, Carrie; “daughter”, Colleen Hines and daughter, Rachel Kirby; grandchildren, Xavier Gonzalez, Haylee Hines, Morgan Gonzalez; “mom”, Joan Whiteaker (GiGi) and special “brother”, Tom Galleo; brothers, Dennis Hines and Joe Hines and many more family members and friends.
Dan is preceded in death by his son and best friend, Donald Hines (5/23/2021); “dad”, Donald (Bop) Whiteaker and parents, Herbert and Delora Hines (Papa and Mama Hines).
Dan was a great man, and it was a honor to know him. Rest in peace cowboy.
My brother Dan is forever infused into my soul and lives within me today, and so it shall be to my last day in this world, and then into the next. Dan and I joined this blessed family many decades ago when he married Carrie and I married Renee her sister. We all grew very close and bonded permanently in an environment of Love and caring fostered by Don & Joan Whiteaker. The blessings we experienced are truly heaven on earth and Dan was a major factor in what made it all possible. I love you brother.
Dan was a special brother-in-law all these years. Always enjoyed our get togethers. His special wit and humor was appreciated. He will be very much missed.
Dan will be missed but never forgotten. May God bless you with His comfort and love.
My condolences too u and the family
