David (Dave) Neal Peterson

August 30, 1946 – September 2, 2016

Dave was born in Staples, MN to Howard and Carol Peterson. His childhood was spent in Staples enjoying friends, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Sunday school activities in the First Methodist Church, and developing his passion for designing and building mechanical “projects”.  He graduated from Staples High School in 1964 and the Staples Vocational School Tool Design Program.  Dave was a tool designer in the Twin Cities until he was drafted by the Army Corp. of Engineers.  He completed his military duty in AZ in 1968 as a topographical survey Specialist.

As a loving and caring father, he enjoyed camping with his family, scouting activities with his sons, and overall family time. Dave began a mining and millwright career in the Globe-Miami, AZ area, eventually moving to Mesa AZ.  In “the valley” he worked as a millwright/equipment manager in the steel, baking and pharmaceutical industries. During those times he pursued his passions designing and building specialty vehicles, custom motorcycles and gun-smithing.

Dave is a devoted Christian, loving father, and follower of God’s word. He is peacefully with his Lord and Savior after a battle with cancer. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Carol (Bolles) Peterson; his son, Chad Peterson; and step-son, Chantry Gorman.  He is survived by his son, Ryan Peterson (San Tan Valley, AZ); brother, Marvin Peterson (Crosslake, MN); nephew, Eric C. Peterson and family (Nisswa, MN); his special friend, Jeanette Renick (Mesa, AZ); as well as nieces, nephews and very importantly, many friends. His companion Beagle, Susie, misses him dearly.

Dave’s Celebration of Life will be held at the San Tan Mountain View Funeral Home on Sunday, September 11. Family will greet friends at 9:00am, with a funeral service at 9:30am. A military graveside service will follow at Globe Cemetery in Globe, AZ at 12:30pm.  The family also invites you to a luncheon following the first service.

Family prefers memorials in lieu of flowers. Memorials for the “Wounded Warrior Project” or charity of choice can be sent to the Peterson Family, 2136 W Gila Butte Dr., Queen Creek, AZ 85142.

Condolences to the Peterson family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to your whole family. Psalms 147:3 says God, “heals the broken hearted, and binds up their wounds.” May God bring you comfort and peace.
