David Pixley, 89, passed away in Queen Creek, Arizona on March 21, 2017.

David was born on July 9, 1927, in Fulton, NY. He grew up in West Cummington, MA, graduating from Pittsfield (MA) High School in 1946. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1948, and served six years as an instructor in aircraft electrical systems.

In 1957 he went to work for Mohawk Airlines, in Ithaca, NY. It was there that he met his wife, Jean Ballardini. They were married on October 12, 1957. They soon transferred to Rome, NY, where they lived for many years.

David retired from US Air in the late 1980’s and moved to the Phoenix, AZ area, where he was a regular volunteer with the Mesa Wing of the Commemorative Air Force.

In 2007, they moved back to Rome, where he spent a large part of his time building wooden ship models and radio controlled aircraft. After his wife passed away in 2011, David moved back to Arizona, where he spent the remainder of his years working on models and doing crossword puzzles.

He is predeceased by his wife, Jean; one brother, Stephen; and a sister, Marilyn. He is survived by a brother, Calvin, of Westfield, MA; his children, Marshall, of Malone, NY; Marilyn, of Round Rock, TX; Martin, of West Cummington, MA; Marie, of Little Falls, NY; Mark, of Ewa Beach, HI; and David, Jr., of Queen Creek, AZ; as well as 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
