Jeffrey Corbett Taylor, 69, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024 while surrounded by his family after courageously battling the effects of a stroke. Jeff was a beloved husband, father, son, brother and papa to those he held most dear.
Jeff was born on April 12, 1955 in Kennett, MO to Stanley Kay Taylor and Joanne Corbett Taylor. He was raised in Dallas, Texas where he lived every little boy’s dream life. Some of his favorite things were enjoying the outdoors, golfing, fishing, Texas Longhorn football and Remembering the Alamo. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, TX and in 1974 he left his home to serve a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Quito, Ecuador. This began his life-long love for the Spanish language, the culture, the people and most importantly, his devotion to the gospel of Jesus Christ. He earned his Bachelors and Master’s degrees from Angelo State University and would go on to spend over 30 years teaching in San Angelo, TX at Central High School and in Gilbert, AZ at Higley High School. He had a very big impact on thousands of students throughout the years.
He enjoyed volunteering for his church. Those positions included being in several Bishoprics, High Council, Young Men’s leader, Boy Scouts leadership, Sunday school and primary teacher and Temple worker. He used his knowledge of the gospel and the scriptures to teach many memorable lessons over the years. He had compassion for others’ trials and always found a way to relate and show empathy.
Jeff is preceded in death by his father Stanley Taylor, his sister Becky Tramundanas and his brother-in-law Ted Tramundanas.
Jeff is survived by his eternal companion, Jeanette Crane Taylor, his mother Joanne Taylor, his sisters Judy and Jennifer Taylor and his brother Zack Taylor. He also leaves behind his five children; Sarah Taylor Wright (Jared), Jeffrey Dayton Taylor (Alisha), Stanley Reed Taylor, Caitlin Taylor Miller (Ben) and Ross Holden Taylor (Sarah). He was the best “Papa” to fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild; Emma, Sadee, Jillian, Chloe, Camille, Heber, Wyatt, Jeffrey Jr., Cecil, Weston, Tommy, Hazel, Molly, Jesse and Millie.
