Joan Alene Bathrick (Hedger) Cox, 83, of San Tan Valley, Arizona, passed away on February 7, 2023.
Born in Battle Creek, Michigan, on May 10, 1939, to Newton and Harriet Rozell Bathrick. Joan was a long-time resident of Yuma, Arizona. She graduated from Yuma High School in 1957 and worked as a beautician in Yuma for many years. She was co-owner of Aztec Hair Care. She was a former Girl Scout leader who loved reading, cooking, and caring for her dogs. She enjoyed being a grandmother and loved traveling and spending time with her family.
She is predeceased by her parents, Newton and Harriet Bathrick and her sister, Sherron Frazier, all residents of Yuma.
She leaves behind her brothers: Bill Bathrick (San Diego, CA), Terry Bathrick (Yuma, AZ), and Donnie Bathrick (Wilhoit, AZ); her five children: Jolene Jernberg (Fort Collins, CO), Sheryl Ralston (Prescott Valley, AZ), Mary Coppin (Riverside, CA), Paul Hedger (Phoenix, AZ), and Kevin Hedger (Queen Creek, AZ); her niece, Virginia Iodice (Queen Creek, AZ); her six grandchildren; Laura Shafer (Flagstaff, AZ), Brian Hedger (Phoenix, AZ), Jeffrey Jernberg (Fort Collins, CO); Molly Hedger, Megan Hedger, and Marrianna Hedger (Queen Creek, AZ); and her great granddaughter, Stella Hedger (Phoenix, AZ).
A celebration of life will be held in her honor on Saturday, April 1st at the Shilo Inn, 1550 S. Castle Dome Ave., from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Yuma Humane Society.
