Lynette Buchman Hoopes was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away on August 24, 2024, at the age of 76. She was a woman of unwavering faith who lived her life in service to her family and countless others.

Lynn was born on June 26, 1948, in Los Angeles, CA. She was adopted by Walter and Barbara Buchman, along with her three sisters: Kathee Dangleis, Dorinda Buchman, and Lori Bagley. After graduation, she attended Brigham Young University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in English. She was a true BYU Cougar fan and never missed a game. Although she taught in many schools, including Fallbrook Union High School, her favorite was substituting in her grandkids’ classes.

Her first teaching job was at Bonneville High School in Idaho Falls, ID. While attending a single adult activity she met her sweetheart, John Hoopes. They were married on March 20, 1975, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were blessed with six children and lived in many locations across the United States, eventually settling and raising their family in Fallbrook, California.

Lynn’s life was a testament to her deep faith, which guided her every step and inspired all who knew her. In retirement, she enjoyed researching family history and was blessed to connect with three of her biological sisters, Betty, Tina, and Jacquline. She served in numerous capacities at church, including 14 years of service in three different LDS temples. She loved the temple and especially enjoyed spending time there with her kids and grandkids.

She dedicated herself to raising her children, teaching them the values of love, compassion, and perseverance. She had 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The grandkids always looked forward to swim parties, cookie decorating, and sleepovers at Grandma’s. She loved the opportunity to celebrate each child’s birthday with a homemade cake, specially decorated and personalized by Grandma.

Lynn was always ready to lend a helping hand, offer a kind word, or share a warm cookie. Her warmth and generosity were felt by all who knew her. Her legacy of faith and service lives on through her children and all the lives she so tenderly touched.

She is survived by her husband, John; her cat, Charles; and her six children: David (son) and Kary Hoopes, Bobbi (daughter) and Brandon Farrow, Dan (son) and Autumn Hoopes, Doug (son) and Becky Hoopes, Becky (daughter) and James Jackson, and Bethany (daughter) and Bryce Dupree.

Services will be held on September 3rd at 10 a.m. at the LDS chapel at 32584 N. Gary Rd., San Tan Valley, AZ 85144. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

So sorry about Lynette. I found a scripture I like to share at JW.org, Acts 24:15, “there is going to be a resurrection,” I wish your family the very best for the future.
