With deep love and respect, we remember Terry G. Grittman, 78, of Queen Creek, Arizona, who passed away on March 5, 2026. Born in Phoenix on May 4, 1947, to Roy V. Grittman Jr. and Gean (Schneider) Grittman, Terry was a proud Phoenician. His life was a shining example of devotion—to his country, his craft, and his beloved family.
After graduating from high school, Terry answered the call to serve. He courageously completed two tours in Vietnam aboard the USS Mount Katmai (AE-16), beginning his service on May 25, 1965. After his honorable discharge, he returned home to start a new chapter. Terry began a meaningful and successful career with the Arizona Republic/Phoenix Gazette (RNG), dedicating 25 years of service before retiring.
Terry’s heart beats strongest for music. As a talented singer-songwriter and the lead vocalist forthe band SkinWitch , he poured his soul into performing at local venues and recording the band’s self-titled album, SkinWitch . His creativity and passion inspired all who knew him. Terry was known for serenading his grandchildren with impromptu songs during family gatherings, leaving everyone smiling and singing along.
Terry was blessed with 57 years of marriage to his cherished wife Beverly, whom he married on April 16, 1969. Together, they raised three children and created a sprawling, loving family, one of Terry’s proudest achievements. He is survived by his devoted wife Beverly; his children Donald (with wife Barbara), Daniel (with fiancé Tracy), and Kila (with husband Kevin); his treasured grandchildren: Trent, Jacob, Gabrielle, Brett, Cailin, Leilah, and Kylaya; and his beloved sisters Cherea, Dianne, Jan, and Jamie. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Gean.
Terry’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved him—a gentle, creative soul whose warmth and kindness touched so many. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love.
“Fair winds and following seas, sailor. Your watch is complete, and the horizon now
carries you home.”
