Audrey Ann Thomas Kerns, 92 of Fort Washington, Maryland passed away February 7th, 2023 in Queen Creek, Arizona. Audrey, a lifelong home maker, was born in Southeast Washington D.C. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 66 years, Eugene M. Kerns, her sons Douglas Kerns, Eugene F. Kerns and her precious Poodle Poupée. She is survived by her children: Martin L. Kerns (Faye), Daughter-in-law Joan Kerns, Barbara A. Burton, John R. Kerns (Denise) and David A. Kerns (Deborah) along with 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and many grandpets.

Not only was Audrey a wife and mother, she was a loving sister to her 8 older siblings; as well as being adored by all her nieces and nephews. She was known by many names to those who loved her: Aud, Gert, “Edna”, Termite, Mama, Mom, Mother, Gram, Nan, GG & Geege.

Audrey is and always will be, the glue that holds our family together. She dedicated her entire life to caring for her loved ones and all those around her. Audrey was known for being direct with her thoughts and for pointing her crooked index finger when making a point. We often didn’t know exactly who she was pointing at but it stopped everyone in their tracks. She could stop anyone or any pet by verbally spelling out the words “S-T-O-P it N-O-W” while pointing that same crooked finger.

She may have had a fear of water, but she loved to cook and bake. She also kept her mind young by reading, coloring, doing word and number searches, her love of gardening, speaking to family and friends on the phone, and sitting in her pink chair watching her Dogwood trees bloom through her front bow window. As Gram/GG to her grandchildren & great-grandchildren, she was best known for her pinch cake and scrapple in the morning. She will be greatly missed, but leaves behind a never-ending legacy through her family that loved and adored her so dearly.

She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family with lots of love from those present and others who were with her in spirit.

The visitation in Arizona will be at 1 pm with the funeral service beginning at 2 pm on Monday, February 13th, 2023. This will take place at San Tan Mountain View Funeral home at 21809 S. Ellsworth Rd. Queen Creek, AZ 85142. At a later date, yet to be determined, there will be another service in Virgina, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved Eugene at National Memorial Park located at 7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA 22042.
