A Celebration of Life
Beverly, beloved and cherished wife, mother and Nana, passed away peacefully on Sunday June 22nd 2025 at the age of 73 in San Tan Valley AZ. Born on January 21st 1952 in New Castle PA, she was the daughter of Walter and Eleanor McGaffic. She married William Schaas on March 5th 1988. He survives at home.
A 1969 graduate of Neshannock High School, Beverly worked for many companies throughout her life including S&H Green Stamps, Shenango Pottery, Fishers Big Wheel and Sears, from which she retired in 2011. Beverly was also a member of the Alliance of Transylvanian Saxons Branch 27 at the Eintracht Singing Society of New Castle.
In addition to her loving husband, Beverly is survived by her children – Amanda (Gary) Mayberry and James (Jennifer) McAdams. Additionally, she leaves behind her grandchildren – Brandon (Ashley) and Allison Mayberry, Katie, Alanna, Jackson and Ryann McAdams. Her siblings – Robert McGaffic, Edie Schimpf and Walter McGaffic also survive. Her family will forever hold her memory in their hearts. Bev was preceeded in death by her parents and her sister in law Cheryl McGaffic whom she cherished.
Bev was a talented seamstress who loved to create things. She was known for making beautiful clothing for herself and friends. She loved making elaborate Halloween costumes for Brandon and Allison. Bev enjoyed spending her retired years cross stitching and watching British television. Her dog, Lady Jane, brought her endless joy. Bev was especially proud of her Scottish heritage. She touched the lives of everyone she met with her kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit
A private memorial service to celebrate Bev’s life will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society of Lawrence County PA, in honor of Bev’s love of animals.
