Bobie Junior Elam, 90, of San Tan Valley, AZ passed away Palm Sunday, March 24th at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Bob was born in Pope County, Illinois in 1933. He married his grade school sweetheart, Donna Rose Elam (Hancock) on February 21, 1953, who survives. He is also survived by his sister, Edna (William) Wright; his children, Catherine (Curtis) White, Cynthia (Ed) Moore, Carol (Ken) Wynn, Charles (Debra) Elam & Curtis (Amy) Elam; his grandchildren, Janice, John, Brian, Jessie, Cheryl, Catherine, Curtis Jr., Andrew, Emily, Evan & Erika; his great-grandchildren, Rachel, Rebekah, Caitlynn, Ayden, Alexandra, Samantha, Tatyana, Nathan, Ava, Isabelle, Gabriel, Elijah, David, Evangeline, Annarose, Eliana & Jonas; his great-great-grandchildren, Luke, Scarlett, Jameson, Emilia, Aubrey & Everley; his “adopted” son, Mark Rodriguez; and his “adopted” grandson, Michael Johnson.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Cressie & Mary Elizabeth (Carter) Elam; his sister, Gladys (Vernon) Pollard; his brother, Arnold (Mary) Elam; and his grandparents, Charles & Samantha Elam and Hayes & Ada Carter.
Bob was always smiling and loved everyone. He had the gift of encouragement and assembled hundreds of latch hooks (12 x 12 only), painted pictures & made woodwork, of which he gifted to many friends and family across the country.
He truly loved his family, but even more, he loved the Lord. He was a song leader at many churches and was in a southern gospel quartet (The Humblaires) for many years.
Bob will be sorely missed, but we rejoice that he is with our Savior and reunited with so many family and friends.
He was a great man of the type we should all want our children to strive to become and we should all use as our our mentor.
