It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, and friend David Justin Smith. Dave’s greatest joy in life was his family. With his unexpected passing he has left his wife Lachelle, children Jace, Bry, Paetyn, Brooke, and Jag, his grandchildren Jax, Kyan and Ryatt, his Mother Sue, his brothers Brad and Nathan, his sister Shelly and many nephews and nieces with a void that can never be filled. His memory will forever be etched in our hearts.

Dave was born on December 20, 1973, in Miami, Arizona. From a young age he exhibited a zest for life and a genuine love for those around him. Dave’s   laughter and warm smile could light up any room, and his kind, compassionate nature endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Professionally, Dave started his law enforcement career in corrections in 1995. He then later went on to work for the Gila River Police Department, the Hayden Police Department, and for the last four years he was a respected Sergeant with the San Carlos Police Department. His strong work ethic, integrity, and commitment to excellence earned him the admiration and respect of his colleagues. He approached every task with enthusiasm and determination to succeed, which left a lasting impact on all those he worked with.

Outside of work Dave had a passion for many things. He enjoyed being outdoors. He liked camping, hunting, fishing, playing sports, watching his Redskins play football, his Cubs play baseball, tinkering around with vehicles, and spending time with family and friends. But Dave absolutely loved taking his daughters to Starbucks, while complaining about it the entire time. Dave truly embraced life to the fullest. His adventurous spirit and love for life, led to countless memories that will forever be treasured.

We will now find peace through the memories and the love that Dave bestowed upon us. Dave’s legacy will live on through his children as they will carry his values, kindness, and compassion forward.

Dave, you were the rock of our family, and your absence will be felt deeply. May you rest in eternal peace, knowing that you were deeply loved and will be forever missed.

We invite all those whose lives were touched by Dave to join us in celebrating his life on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Mountain View Church in San Tan Valley, Arizona. In honoring his memory, let us remember to cherish our loved ones, embrace life’s precious moments, and live each day with the same love and passion that Dave exemplified.
