Donald (Don/Donny) Wurl, formerly of St. Paul, Minnesota passed away on September 6th, 2022, with his loving family by his side.

Donald was born on May 18th, 1949 in Mankato, MN, to Robert “Bob” Wurl, and Amy Joyce (Taylor) Wurl.

Donald is survived by his wife, of 48 years, Peggy Wurl; his brother, Rob (Annette) Wurl; his children, Yvonne, Joe, Erica (Darren), Tony; his grandchildren, Amanda (Christian), Breanna, Alex, and Madisen; his great grand children, Jaxon, Wynter, And Myla, and many other loving family members and friends.

Donny worked as a contractor for Zaudtke Home Builders for many years. He later went on to devote his time as a caretaker for the National Handicap Housing institute where he was later awarded a certificate for “excellence in community service” after serving for 20+ years.

Donny was a family man, and in August of 2019 he relocated with some immediate family members to Arizona. Donny was most proud of being a “Papa” to his grandchildren who would describe him as fun-loving, genuine, humorous, and selfless. Other family members would refer to him as a “family favorite” as he was such a goofy, caring guy who knew how to make a room full of people laugh.

There will be no services held per Donny’s request. He will be dearly missed by many.

I still cannot believe you’re gone dad. I feel like you ran to Walgreens or DQ…. Yet you never come through the front door. You are so loved and missed, it’s not even funny. Our hearts ache for you. Why did this have to happen? We have so many questions but no answers. Just watch over us and protect us. Again, we love and miss you so, so much!

  3. Maddie Richards says:

Papa I love you so much, I will never forget you. I will miss our trips to DQ, and us playing silly games together. It still doesn’t feel real that you passed away. I will miss your weird jokes and your nasty farts. I can’t wait to see you again ❤️

  4. Bryan Freeman says:

so very sorry for your loss, I met him once before Erica moved to Arizona, very nice person, may God grant you comfort as you mourn his passing.

  5. Alex Richards says:

I still can’t believe this is real. It isn’t fair that such a loving, caring, funny, amazing guy like you was taken so quick. I’ll remember my jacks pizzas you would cut into little squares for me and you always made me one for thanksgiving. I remember us going to the park and we would try and find softballs in the woods. I miss you so much papa I can’t even explain. I’m glad you finally are at peace, I love you so much! ❤️

  6. Amanda Shepherd says:

    Papa-
My heart is beyond broken. I miss you so much already… I don’t know what I’m going to do without you. I’ve never known life without you and so far it’s been so hard. I keep looking through all of my photos and videos of you and our fun times together. Every single video I have of you, all you can hear is me laughing. Nobody in this world can make me laugh like you. I’m so happy you got to meet Myla, but I’m so sad she doesn’t get to grow up with you like I did. This all just doesn’t seem fair and I’m so sorry you went through what you did. Just know, you were so strong and I’m so proud of you. I love you more than anything and I miss you so dearly. There will never be a day that goes by where I don’t think of you. Thank you for being the best papa in the world. I miss you, best friend.

  7. Betta Owens says:

Donny was my “little” cousin, though he was only a year and a half years younger than me. His Mom (my aunt Joyce), and Dad (uncle Bob) along with his brother Rob hold a very special place in my heart. Our families shared many holidays, vacations and regular times together. All fondly remembered. Don was indeed a good and fun loving guy, and like his Dad did know how to make people laugh and feel happy. I will always remember him with a smile. My heart goes out to all who loved and miss him.
