Elena Dalmira Magula de Naum blessed this earth with her presence for over 100 years and passed from this earthly existence on 22 August 2022. She was born in La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina, daughter of Juan Demetrio Magula (born in Greece) and Elena Dalmira Herce (born in Argentina). Her parents, brother (Juan), sister (Ana), husband (Ruben) and grandson Joseph Bullen preceded her to the other side of the veil. She is survived by her two daughters. Anahi Nosek and husband Mike, and their children: Nelay and spouse Nathan Young, Amber and spouse Dennis Krise, Karina and spouse Jake Warren, and Joshua Nosek. And Diana Naum Bullen and husband Thomas, and their children: Monica and spouse Shawn Jensen, Karla and spouse Johnny Blair, James Bullen, Emily and spouse Christopher Richins, John and spouse Eryn Peck Bullen. Elena is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Ashlynn Young, Amara Young, Bryssa Young, Nicholas Krise, Lincoln Jensen, Oliver, Jensen, Adria Jensen, Ryder Warren, Colter Warren, Parker Warren, Annabelle Plummer, Aaron Richins, Benjamin Richins, Logan Richins, Joy McCormick, Cooper Bullen, Benjamin Bullen, and Dylan Blair. Elena was known as MAMI, a term of endearment we all used in all our communications with her.
Mami’s mother passed away when she was just 8 years old. This incident affected Mami for the rest of her life as she missed her mother terribly and felt a void that was difficult to fill. Life was challenging as she struggled to overcome that void even after the arrival of her stepmother Maria Vitali.
Mami met Ruben Naum (Papi) and fell in love. She was head over heels until she found out he was just 18 years old while she was 22. She broke up with him and they were distanced from each other for several years. Ruben served his military conscription commitment for 2 years. Then a couple of years later, Elena had a dream … she was sitting at a park bench, and he came from behind and called her name. . . it turned out that dream became prophetic, and they got back together and married in 1951, twelve years after they originally met.
Mami was self-made and self-taught. She developed her natural artistic talents and became a great seamstress, artist, cook, crafter and inventor. She had the ability to turn any medium into a piece of art. She became a seamstress at a very young age, creating patterns and making tailored clothing at the age of 7 years old. Whether a tailored suit or full-size boat cover, she could make it! Her cake decorating was so natural looking that her brother thought she had brought him a basket of natural flowers for one of his birthdays but in reality, it was a marzipan masterpiece! She patented a couple of inventions. One of them was a sewing machine attachment to make Paraguayan lace. She invented it and Papi built the prototype. She also had an eye for beauty and shared her opinion with family and strangers alike.
Mami was athletic, a gift she inherited from her father who used to do pullups at 80 years old. She loved tennis, playing with balls and hiking, and engaged in those activities into her eighties. She was often seen downtown Hot Springs, Arkansas, hiking the Hot Springs Mountain even at 88 years old while Papi waited for her in the car at the bottom of the 1 mile elevation trail. She also loved card games, and in her later years was an avid Uno player and winner!
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was passionate about her family and loved to sew and cook for them. She was tender and poetic, she had a rhyme for everything! She instilled in her daughters a love of reading, hard work and the appreciation of nature. Reading books in the hot summer afternoons during siesta time, or early morning biking in the forest were favorites with her daughters.
Her journey in life was a tough one, but she touched many lives with her love of people, and desire to help and support others from teaching English to newcomers, to helping an ailing neighbor. Elena was compassionate, and tender, as well as outspoken and determined.
Elena passed through the veil and earned her wings. She shed her iron strength and turned into an angel watching us from above.

Nació en La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina, hija de Juan Demetrio Magula (nacido en Grecia) y Elena Dalmira Herce (nacida en Argentina). Sus padres, hermano (Juan), hermana (Ana), esposo (Ruben) y nieto Joseph Bullen, la precedieron al otro lado del velo. Le sobreviven sus dos hijas. Anahi Nosek y esposo Mike, y sus hijos: Nelay y esposo Nathan Young, Amber y esposo Dennis Krise, Karina y esposo Jake Warren, y Joshua Nosek. Elena era conocida como MAMI, un término cariñoso que todos usábamos en todas nuestras comunicaciones con ella.
La madre de Mami falleció cuando ella tenía solo 8 años. Este incidente afectó a Mami por el resto de su vida ya que extrañaba terriblemente a su madre y sentía un vacío que era difícil de llenar. La vida fue desafiante mientras luchaba por superar ese vacío, incluso después de la llegada de su madrastra Maria Vitali.
Mami conoció a Rubén Naum (Papi) y se enamoró. Ella estaba perdidamente enamorada hasta que descubrió que él tenía solo 18 años mientras que ella tenía 22. Ella rompió con él y estuvieron distanciados durante varios años. Rubén cumplió su compromiso de reclutamiento militar durante 2 años. Luego, un par de años más tarde, Elena tuvo un sueño… estaba sentada en un banco del parque, y él vino por detrás y la llamó por su nombre. . . resultó que ese sueño se volvió profético, volvieron a reunirse y se casaron en 1951, doce años después de que se conocieron por primera vez.
Mami fue autodidacta. Desarrolló sus talentos artísticos naturales y se convirtió en una gran costurera, artista, cocinera, artesana e inventora. Tenía la capacidad de convertir cualquier medio en una obra de arte. Se convirtió en costurera a una edad muy temprana, creando patrones y haciendo ropa a la medida a la edad de 7 años. Ya sea un traje a la medida o una cubierta de bote de tamaño completo, ¡ella podía hacerlo! La decoración de sus tortas tenía un aspecto tan natural que su hermano pensó que le había traído una cesta de flores naturales para uno de sus cumpleaños, pero en realidad, ¡era una obra maestra de mazapán! Ella patentó un par de inventos. Uno de ellos era un accesorio de máquina de coser para hacer encajes paraguayos. Ella lo inventó y Papi construyó el prototipo. También tenía buen ojo para la belleza y compartía su opinión con familiares y extraños por igual.
Mami era atlética, un don que heredó de su padre que solía hacer flexiones a los 80 años. Le encantaba el tenis, jugar con pelotas y hacer caminatas, y se dedicó a esas actividades hasta los noventa años. A menudo se la veía en el centro de Hot Springs, Arkansas, caminando por la montaña Hot Springs, incluso a los 88 años, mientras Papi la esperaba en el automóvil al final del sendero de elevación de 1 milla. ¡También le encantaban los juegos de cartas, y en sus últimos años fue una ávida jugadora y ganadora de Uno!
Fue una devota esposa, madre, abuela y bisabuela. Le apasionaba su familia y le encantaba coser y cocinar para ellos. Era tierna y poética, ¡tenía una rima para todo! Inculcó en sus hijas el amor por la lectura, el trabajo arduo y el aprecio por la naturaleza. Leer libros en las calurosas tardes de verano durante la hora de la siesta, o andar en bicicleta por la mañana temprano en el bosque eran los favoritos de sus hijas.
Su viaje en la vida fue difícil, pero tocó muchas vidas con su amor por las personas y su deseo de ayudar y apoyar a otros, desde enseñar inglés a los recién llegados hasta ayudar a un vecino enfermo. Elena era compasiva y tierna, así como franca y decidida.
Elena atravesó el velo y ganó sus alas. Se despojó de su fuerza de hierro y se convirtió en un ángel que nos observa desde arriba.
