Galen Harl Neher, 75, of Queen Creek, AZ passed away on June 17, 2018 at home while under hospice care for pancreatic cancer after valiantly fighting Parkinson’s Disease for over 30 years. He was born on July 10, 1942 in Jerome, ID to Dr. Lauren Mark Neher and Katherine Smith. He was the second of three children: Michael Lynn of Caldwell, ID, who preceded him in death, and Norma Taylor of Helena, MT.

Galen graduated from Jerome High School in 1960 and received his BS degree from the College of Idaho, followed by his PhD in Pathology from the University of Oregon Medical School. Galen’s career was spent in the pharmaceutical industry that took him across the US and to many countries around the world.

He was an avid sports and outdoor enthusiast. He learned to golf at a very young age and enjoyed it all of his life. He was very athletic and encouraged and supported all his children and grandchildren in various sporting activities.  He was a coach and scout master and maintained an interest in the lives of youth all his life.  He had a kind and gentle disposition and was always mindful of the needs of others.  He will be remembered for his infectious smile, witty humor, and his unending devotion to his family.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and loved serving in many callings, especially those with the youth and missionary work. He married his High School sweetheart, Gayle Hall, who survives him.  He is also survived by his children: Gregory (Isabel) of Gilbert, AZ,   Eric (Remy) of Gilbert, AZ, Douglas of Queen Creek, AZ, and Jennifer of San Tan Valley, AZ, 14 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Services will be held on Thursday, June 28 at the LDS Chapel at 20637 E. San Tan Blvd., Queen Creek, AZ  85142. Family will greet friends for a visitation at 9:00am, followed by a funeral service at 10:00am.
