Gary M. Edgerton, 74, of Queen Creek, Arizona, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at home from complications due to cancer.

Gary was born in Blackfoot, Idaho, on November 11, 1948, to Phyllis and Cleo Edgerton. He has a younger brother, Bruce. His family later moved to Idaho Falls where Gary attended elementary, junior high, and high school. Gary graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1967. Gary always loved sports. He played baseball when he was younger and wrestled and played football in high school. He loved to play golf. Gary had great memories growing up. His family had built a cabin in Palisades and they spent many weekends there riding motorcycles and water skiing. Gary always loved the outdoors and the mountains. After high school, Gary attended Idaho State University where he graduated with a BA in finance. Gary loved his business classes in college and throughout his life he had a love for reading and learning.

Gary met Kris Wadsworth when she was a junior in high school and he was a senior. They fell in love and were married in 1969. They were married for 54 wonderful years. They loved their life together. They were blessed with four children: Rachelle (Ryan), Chad (Shannon), Ashley (Steve), and Stephanie (Clark). They have sixteen grandchildren: Dylan, Caden, Jackson, Gavin, Carson, Trevin, Thea, Sydney, Morgan, Landon, Bennett, Liam, Calvin, Miles, Abel, and Violet. Gary absolutely adored his children and grandchildren. They were his pride and joy. He was so proud of each one of them. He especially enjoyed attending their sporting events.  He was their greatest fan.

After graduating from college, Gary and Kris moved to Boise, Idaho, where they lived for 47 years.

During that time, Gary was employed by Home Federal Savings and then DL Evans bank. He was a senior vice president.  Gary loved the banking business.  He made many friends and was very involved in the community.

Gary was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was a convert to the church.

He was baptized in 1985 and his family was sealed together in the Boise, Idaho, temple. Gary had a strong testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel and served in many callings. He especially loved the youth. He served as the Bishop of the 36th ward, Boise West Stake, for several years and the youth were his main focus. Gary and Kris enjoyed being temple workers. They served in both the Boise Temple and the Gilbert Temple.

In 2021, Gary was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He fought the disease with dignity and was an example to all of us. He will be greatly missed, but we are thankful that he is free of pain. We look forward to when we will see him again. A funeral service for Gary will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 22424 S. Meridian Rd., Queen Creek, Arizona, 85207.  He will be laid to rest immediately following the service at San Tan Memorial Gardens in Queen Creek, Arizona, 22425 E. Cloud Rd., Queen Creek, Arizona, 85142.
