Georgia Ann Smedstad, 81, of Florence, Arizona, passed away peacefully in her home on March 20, 2023.  She was born on January 2, 1942, to George and Marceline Perkins in Grand Forks, North Dakota.  She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, William and Maryal.  Growing up, she attended Catholic school and remained strong in her faith.

She is survived by her loving husband, John, whom she met while they were students at the University of North Dakota.  They married in 1963 and had an amazing bond.  They balanced each other’s personalities perfectly.  Georgia and John started their family together in Michigan and later settled in Arizona.  They enjoyed traveling together to California, Florida, the Midwest, and being with friends and family during holidays and special occasions.

Georgia worked in the medical field for nearly 40 years overseeing medical practices.  She cherished the relationships she made with her colleagues and patients.  After retiring, she and John moved to Florence, which she jokingly referred to as being “out at the farm.”  She loved taking care of others and was involved with a local charity, Maggie’s Place, that provided support for new mothers.

She also leaves behind her three sons whom she adored, David (Augie), Jeff (Suzie), and Scott (Kristin).  When they were children, she attended all of their sporting events and was often the team mom taking care of the boys’ teammates as well.  When Georgia talked about her sons, her eyes lit up.  She was incredibly proud of them and their accomplishments.  So proud, in fact, her custom license plate read SONS X 3.

Georgia loved sports, especially golfing with her boys and John.  She also joined a ladies putting group with friends.  When she was younger, she played hockey and wore a stylish helmet with flowers on it.  She looked forward to watching and cheering on the Phoenix Suns and Arizona Cardinals.

Georgia touched many lives and will forever be loved.  She was the one to check in on you, send you a note, or drop by with something to cheer you up.  She was the first one to go to when you needed help, a laugh, or a shoulder to cry on, and she gave the best hugs.   She was feisty, tough, and lived life to the fullest.   Her family truly appreciates and will always remember everything she has done for them.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at San Tan Mountain View Funeral Home, 21809 S. Ellsworth Rd. Queen Creek, Arizona, 85142.  Georgia will be laid to rest immediately following services at San Tan Memorial Gardens at Schnepf Farms.
