Harry Justin Theabold

Harry Justin Theabold, 54, of Queen Creek, AZ, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on August 20th, 2026, after a two year battle with cancer.

Justin was born on November 11th, 1971 in Scottsdale Arizona to his parents Harry Douglas Theabold and Alta Renae Owens Theabold. Soon after his birth, the family moved to Mesa Arizona where he enjoyed a happy childhood growing up in a large family. As the second to the youngest of six children, his older sisters Monica, Shaunna, Kimberly and Rhonda took their roles seriously, doing a good job watching over he and his younger brother Brandon. He attended Washington Elementary School, Rhodes Junior High and graduated a Mustang at Dobson High.

After high school, Justin served a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he gained a strong belief in and love for his Savior Jesus Christ. He loved the people of Louisiana! He found the entire state and climate to be an awesome new experience–so different from the heat of Arizona. He always spoke of that time with fondness and gratitude for the lifelong friends he made.

After his mission he married his sweetheart, Melanie McClure. They were married in the LDS Mesa Arizona Temple on November 27th, 1993 and began building a life together. They were married for 32 wonderful years. Justin and Melanie were blessed with eight children-7 living and 1 angel baby boy. They raised their children in a home filled with love, laughter and hard work. Their lives were deeply rooted in faith and family! They faced life’s challenges together. He considered his family to be his greatest blessing. Justin was a devoted Grandpa who found great happiness in his grandchildren. The arrival of a new grandchild was always a great source of joy for him. He loved holding those new babies, getting to know their personalities, and watching them grow. They were precious to him.

Justin worked hard to support his family and had an innate desire to do well in his chosen occupation. He owned his own business and worked in commercial and residential construction. He enjoyed the opportunities he had to travel throughout the United States on different projects. He loved to see a project come together and be completed well. He worked hard to establish relationships of trust with others in the field. He enjoyed the challenge of learning new things every chance he got, always looking for ways to improve. He tried very hard to do a good job for his clients and customers in order to maintain those working relationships.

Justin had some fun hobbies. He started collecting hot wheels cars when their first child was born and continued throughout his life. He had quite an extensive collection. It was always fun to get the collection out with the kids and count them up-last count was in the hundreds! He loved a freshly cut backyard, trimmed trees and “no weeds”!

Justin had a great love for sports. He was always active as a kid and you could find him often on his bike riding through the neighborhood. As he grew older his love for football, track/field and all team sports extended beyond the playing field. As he grew up, some of his favorite times were watching the valley sports teams-Diamondbacks, Cardinals or Phoenix Suns. As a teenager, if he missed watching a game, he and his mother Renae would catch the highlights together on the 10:00 news. As he had a family he would spend hours in the backyard throwing the baseball, football, aerobie or cornhole bags with his kids. He loved to watch them compete in their sporting events as they got older. He did whatever he could to be there to support them. He spent a lot of time biting his nails as he watched those events!

Justin had a dry sense of humor. He always had funny “one-liners” that would make you laugh. Never more apparent was this when he knew his time was growing short and he would joke about how in heaven he just knew he would have a full head of hair again.

He enjoyed camping, which was instilled in him by his father Harry. He was taught early how to be organized and set things up so the best time could be had. He learned to be prepared and it helped him in his later opportunities to work with the Boy Scouts. He was grateful for opportunities to work and serve in the church. He enjoyed his interactions with those he served with and learned so much about the joy that comes from helping others.

Justin is survived by his wife, Melanie, his children Blake (Ashley), Madison Flygare (Colton), Jerni Burrell, Kamree Caudillo (Sam),  Kenedee Moore (Ty), Gage, Chase, and 10 grandchildren (Lee, Jack, William, Crew, Barrett, Brady, Claire, Josie, Benny and Della); his siblings Shaunna Krieg, Kim Anderson, Rhonda Johnson and Brandon Theabold. He was preceded in death by one infant son, Benjamin, his father, Harry Douglas Theabold, mother, Alta Renae Owens Theabold and sister, Monica Theabold Kivett.

He will be remembered for the way he loved his family, the friendships he nurtured, the faith he lived, his sense of humor and work ethic. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that continue to be shared by those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed.
