Helen Rose Grassel, 91, died peacefully at home in Queen Creek, AZ, on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, after several months of declining health. Formerly of Hemet, CA, and Canton, MI, Helen was born in Detroit, MI, on March 2, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Eli Louis Bilbia and the late Mileva (Mildred) Obradovich. She was the wife of the late John Grassel, Jr., to whom she was married 41 years.

Helen’s Christian faith was important to her and she was an active member in church all her adult life, most recently serving as a deaconess for Cornerstone Church in Hemet until her move to Arizona in March 2019.

Helen is survived by two sons: John E., Apache Junction, AZ; Steven M., married to Dianne Bruce, Queen Creek, AZ; one daughter: Theresa L., married to Lamar Keener, Queen Creek, AZ; 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by three brothers: Peter M. Bilbia, Michael Bilbia and George E. Bilbia; and two sisters, Anna Bilbia and Violet Bilbia Dragelevich.

Interment will take place in Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia, MI, with a private family ceremony.
