On Wednesday, August 18th, 2020 James “Jim” Ross, loving husband, father and grandfather (A.K.A. Opa) went to be with his Lord. Jim was 71 years old.

Jim was born on May 5th, 1949 in Morgantown, West Virginia to John A. Ross (father) and Marguerite Jenkins Ross (mother). Jim’s family later moved to Leesburg, Virginia. He graduated high school from Randolph-Macon Academy (Front Royal, Virginia) in 1967 where he led as Battalion Commander (LT.COL.) his senior year. He went on to graduate in 1971 from California Western University (U.S.I.U.) with a B.A. in Business Administration, cum laude (Point Loma, California).

Jim married Dana D. Oberhaus in 1971 and was a devoted and loving husband their entire 49 years of marriage. They were blessed with four children, Jason, Amanda, Preston and John-Paul.

Jim worked for the Dept. of Navy (Naval Supply Center San Diego, California) as a systems analyst from 1971-1977. He then moved his growing family to Morgantown, West Virginia where he served as President of Jenkins Coal and Land Co. and Broker/Owner of Horizon Realty.

In 1988 Jim moved the family to Arizona where he was a co-owner of Greentree Nursery and then as a co-owner, along with his wife Dana Ross and Flo-Ann Campbell, of Ross Campbell Realty 1999 to 2020. Due to Jim’s diligent work, Ross Campbell Realty continues to thrive.

Jim was known for his quick wit, love of reading, documenting family ancestry, green thumb gardening, master storyteller of family history as well as a passion for world history in general.

Jim will be missed by those who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, John A. Ross and Marguerite Ross as well as his brother and best friend John A. Ross. Jim is survived by his wife Dana Ross, his four children, Jason Ross, Amanda Ross Grace (Joey Grace), Preston Ross, John-Paul Ross, sister-in law Carole Ross and three precious grandchildren, Caleb Grace, Aidan Grace and Violet Grace. In addition many extended family members and friends.

We will all miss you greatly Jim (A.K.A. Jimmy, Jimbo, Dad, Opa, Wilfred and Beamer)!
