Jerrold P. Schalinske, 65, passed away and left this Earth on Thursday, October 2, 2014 in Glendale, AZ.
He was doing what he and his wife, Anne, loved to do, and that was motor homing in their RV. He and Anne were on a 13 week trip to the New England states and the Atlantic coastline when he took ill. He was medical evacuated back to Arizona.
Jerry was a 1967 Grinnell-Newburg graduate, attended Iowa State University for two years, and then graduated from United Electronics Institute in West Des Moines in 1970. His career as a Broadcast Engineer was with KCCI-TV in Des Moines, WCCO-TV in Minneapolis, and KTCA-TV in St Paul. He retired from KTCA-TV in 2010 with 31 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Anne; daughter, Kristi & son-in-law Jerry; son, Jerrold II and daughter-in-law, Kevyn; sisters, Phyllis (Dr. Jack Finney), Judy (Chris Bone) and brother, John Schalinske, as well as nieces and nephews.
Family requests no flowers. Memorials accepted for a tree that will be planted in Jerry’s memory. Graveside services will be held on Saturday May 23, 2015, 10:00 am at Rose Hill Cemetery in Lamoni, Iowa.
