A memorial service was held at 10:30a.m. on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at San Tan Mountain View Funeral Home in Queen Creek, AZ for Mr. John Dillard Fulton, formerly of Grenada, Mississippi.

John died on November 22, 2020, at the age of 85, having kept a positive attitude despite suffering with Alzheimer’s disease.

He was born January 10, 1935, and was preceded in death by his mother, Maggie Fulton, his sister, Ollie Huff, and brother, Bud Bradley. John celebrated 65 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Virginia.

John vividly enjoyed working with youth, coaching and refereeing basketball and umpiring baseball in Grenada. He traveled the entire state of Mississippi, calling games in both sports, many times at the requests of various coaches. John liked gospel music. For years, he was scheduled every Sunday morning at a local radio station to play requested gospel songs.

While owning an auto parts store, John was highly respected in his field and considered very knowledgeable regarding all auto parts. Often, he would be contacted after hours to supply customers with parts. John had the reputation of never saying no, whether day or night, in order to help someone in need.

When his health allowed, John loved attending church and was an ordained deacon. Over the years, he served as a Sunday School teacher for youth, adult and senior adult classes. While living in Grenada, he was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. International missions were important to him, having served in Honduras and Brazil aiding in the building of new churches. John considered himself blessed by God with both grandsons serving as pastors, a granddaughter who serves with her husband in ministry and his other granddaughter active in overseas missions.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Fulton is survived by his son, John David (Iris) Fulton of Queen Creek, AZ, and his daughter, Karen Diane Vance of Beebe, AR. Also, he leaves his grandchildren Rev. Jeff (Liz) Fulton, Christen (Tom) Damante, all of Queen Creek, AZ, and Rev. John Michael (Sarah) Vance of Little Rock, AR and Katie (Blake) Driskell of Cabot, AR. His great grandchildren are Lily Elizabeth, Kalen Faith, Mazie Noelle, and Zoe Amaia Fulton; Braylie Kate and Griffin Micah Damante; and Noah Fulton and Nathan Charles Vance.

In lieu of flowers, his family is asking that, if desired, memorials be sent to

Connective Church, 22424 S. Ellsworth Loop #2106, Queen Creek, AZ 85142 or your local Alzheimer’s Association (act.ALZ.org).
