OBITUARY
Karen Dale (Howry) Helmuth, age 62
August 7, 1954 – April 20, 2017
Karen Dale (Howry) Helmuth, a resident of Mesa, Arizona, passed away Thursday April 20th while in hospice care at the home of her son and daughter-in-law Andrew and Sarah Helmuth in San Tan Valley, Arizona. She was diagnosed with cancer at the early age of 29 and successfully withstood the challenges and other issues resulting from intensive medical care for many years. Seeing herself as a cancer survivor she was admired by many for her perseverance and toughness. Others were enamored by her quick smile, easy laugh and insightful practicality.
Karen was born in Alhambra, California August 7, 1954 to Robert Hall Howry (now deceased) and Marion (Christopher) Howry. She has one older sister, Dana Arens (Kurt) and two younger brothers, Christopher Howry, and John Howry (Cyndi). She attended Los Altos High School in Hacienda Heights, California, class of 1972. She worked for Von’s grocery store in California as a cake decorator and bakery manager and was married and had two sons, Brett Helmuth and Andrew Helmuth (Sarah). Moving from West Covina, California to Mesa, Arizona in 1991 she resided with her mother and two sons as she was employed by Fry’s grocery until forced to retire due to illness. Karen has three grandchildren, Michael, Alivia, and Avery. She also has eleven nieces and nephews, in-laws, and many friends, dogs, and cats who will miss her kindness, fun loving manner and indomitable spirit.
