Leon Aaron Pegues

Leon was born to the union of Jodie L. Pegues and Betty J. Pegues on November 12, 1964 in Chicago, IL. He graduated from Marcus Garvey Elementary School and Las Casa High School. Leon worked many years for the CARC organization. Leon was hard-working, fun, loving, strong, resilient and a very positive person who saw everyone as a friend. He completed his journey here on earth Friday March 16, 2018 in Mesa, Arizona.
Leon leaves behind, to cherish his fond memories: his mother, Betty Pegues; three brothers, Allan Pegues, Lindsay(Lisa) Pegues and Maurice Pegues; three sisters, Cassandra (Rodney) Mitchell, LeShawn Bryant and Iris Mitchell; godmother, Brenda Jo Cherry; nine nephews, Lindsay Pegues Jr., Danny Pegues, Allen Moten, Myles Pegues, Malcolm Pegues, Te’Shawn Pegues, Branden Pegues, Lenard Bryant Jr. and Ares Mitchell; two nieces, La’China Collier and Tanice Mitchell; and one great-nephew, King Doby. Leon also leaves behind special family friends Claire Cherry, Delphine Cherry and Lakisha Collier, as well as a host of other loved ones. He is preceded in death by his father, Jodie L. Pegues; his stepfather, Robert Peeples; and his grandmother, Louise Johnson.
Services will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at San Tan Mountain View Funeral Home, 21809 S. Ellsworth Rd., Queen Creek, AZ 85142. Family will greet friends for a visitation at 1:00pm, followed by a funeral service at 2:00pm.
