Nancy Carol Andrew Severson (1946-2023)
Loving wife of David Jack Severson. Mother of three boys Daniel Scott Severson, Aaron Mark Severson and Luke David Severson. Grandmother of ten grandkids and great-grandmother of four. Nancy Carol Severson, 77 years old, of Gilbert, Arizona, Maricopa County, died at South Mountain Post Acute Rehab Center in Phoenix, AZ on October 1, 2023.
She was born in Cambridge, Washington County, New York on May 20, 1946 to Charles Francis Andrew and Elva Mae Bentley, where she was raised on a dairy farm. Nancy had fond memories of her cousins and childhood friends and kept in contact with her cousin Carole Ellen Andrew Batchelder until her passing. Nancy came to Phoenix, Arizona when she was 12 years old and joined the choir at her home church, Hope Baptist, while growing up. She enjoyed being a homemaker as she raised her three boys, Daniel, Aaron and Luke.
Nancy met David Jack Severson at Phoenix College through a mutual friend and later married February 17, 1967, in Phoenix, Arizona. They were both drawn to each other by their love for the Lord.
Nancy Carol Andrew Severson was the daughter of Charles Francis Andrew and Elva Mae Bentley, sister of Sybil Jane Andrew Diaz. Brothers; Carl David Andrew, Charles Phillip Andrew, and Mark Stephen Andrew.
Their first son, (1) Daniel, married Lilly Garza. Children include (1) Jessica (married Casey Crocker), grandchildren: Cole, and Chloe and (2) Nikolas Severson (married Julia Guerrero), grandchildren: Josephine and Sophia.
Their second son, (2) Aaron, married Sherita West. Their children include Kenny, Joseph, Benjamin, Leah and Logan Severson.
Their third son, (3) Luke, married Biliana Iacsin. Their children include Elijah, Alexandra and Abigail Severson.
GRANDCHILDREN – Nancy treasured her time with her grandkids and loved being their Grammy, never failing to laugh at their jokes and listen intently to each one of their stories. (Note) Luke’s children called her “Me Mo”, as a sign of their affection for her.
FRIENDS – Nancy wrote to many or her cousins in upstate New York, and kept a diary for many years, until she had children. Nancy and her cousin Carole Ellen Andrew Batchelder were close and continued their communication through written letters and phone calls.
CHURCH/COMMUNITY GROUP – Nancy always attended church starting with Center White Creek Baptist Church, Hope Baptist Church, First Christian Church, Christ Church of the Valley, Bethany Bible Church, later moving to Grace Community Church and finding her home church at Arizona Community Church. She attended bible study with Len Baker and made many friends through her service in cleaning the church with the Dust Angels. She stayed active and dedicated her entire life to serving the Lord.
HOBBIES – Nancy and her husband frequently worked on Sudoku and Jigsaw puzzles in their free time. – In her younger years she loved to window shop with her husband, family and friends. Nancy started completing her family tree and got her husband to start as well. She discovered that she was related to (1) John Alden and Priscilla Mullins of the Mayflower and (2) John Bunyan, an English writer and Puritan Preacher. She has not been able to connect the “White family line” to the Mayflower in her family tree yet.
Nancy will always be remembered for her honesty and humor – She was quiet, and proper in etiquette, sensitive to profanity, and wanted harmony around her. She had a dedicated walk with the Lord through thick and thin. We couldn’t have asked for a better example of a loving parent, wife, friend, grandmother, and great grandmother.
We feel honored to have been a part of her life, as she set an example in her faith for others to witness. We will miss Nancy every day and her memory will live on with those whom she loved.
