Nicholas Quinn, age 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 7th at his home in Queen Creek, Arizona, surrounded by family. He was the husband of Karlene Boore Quinn. They shared 48 years of marriage together. He was a wonderful husband and loving father.

Born May of 1942 in Hebburn Tyne and Wear, England, he was the son of Nicholas and Ana O’Brien Quinn. A Merchant Marine with British Petroleum, he spent four years in service and visited over 36 countries. Before departing from the U.K., he graduated with an engineering degree. Once in the states, he spent his career employed at Ford Motor Company and General Motors where he worked as a Plant/Logistics Manager in Dearborn, MI, El Paso, TX, Laredo, TX, Mexico City, D.F., and Warren, Ohio. Nick had a knack for forming lifelong friendships in every place he lived.  While employed in the auto industry, Nick was a pioneer by opening the first maquiladora plant in the Laredo Area in 1986.

Nick dedicated countless hours of service to the community and volunteered for organizations, such as the Laredo Development Foundation, City of Laredo Airport Committee, TAMIU Advisory Board and the Laredo Manufacturers Association. He was an enthusiastic member of the Coronado and Laredo Country Clubs. His passions including golfing, watching his beloved Newcastle United Football Club and anything Detroit Lions, Red Wings, Pistons, Tigers and University of Michigan.

Nick, a larger-than-life personality, was a toastmaster and a man of quick wit who found his entire purpose in the laughter of others.  He was legendary storyteller, whether it be in English or Spanish. Nick’s charisma would light up an entire room with his humor and English charm. Nick always had a captive audience whether in his home or as master of ceremony. He was a passionate follower of current events, news and politics.

He is survived by his spouse, Karlene Quinn; his children, Nicole Quinn and Derek Quinn (Crystal); and his brother, Eric Quinn (Eva). He is predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Ana O’Brien Quinn and his sister, Patricia Quinn.

Due to COVID-19, the family is holding private viewing for immediate family members on Friday, March 12th at 11am at San Tan Mountain View Funeral Home, 21809 S Ellsworth Rd, Queen Creek, Arizona 85142.
