Richard Alan McMillan (Rick) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, on Saturday, November 4th, 2023, from ALS.  He was only 63 years old. Rick is preceded in death by his father, Richard Douglas McMillan, survived by his wife, Danja McMillan; daughter, Morgan McMillan; future son-in-law, Chris Wesley; stepson, Douglas Smith; mother, Patty Bently; his sisters, Cindy McMillan and Candi Ashy; brother in-law, John Ashy; his brother, Scott McMillan and sister in-law, Grace McMillan. Rick had nine nieces and nephews and six great nephews and nieces. His nieces and nephews were one of his greatest joys.

Rick had an eclectic, amazing, career. He traveled the world for four years with entertainer, Engelbert Humperdinck, working as his road manager. He met Kings and Queens of many countries. Oh, the stories he would tell from those adventures!!! I’m sure there are a few he didn’t tell.

Rick was a third-generation electrician, working on many homes in Beverly Hills, for movie stars and artists, and most notably, one of the first mega mansions at the time, the Aaron and Candy Spelling residence. He was an amazing mediator, which came in handy during his time as superintendent for Omega Construction Company, a residential land developer. Rick oversaw the entire development of San Tan Heights, AZ, from 2002-2008. Rick was able to name two streets after his wife and daughter.

Rick was also an amateur photographer. He loved taking photos of Morgan during her horse shows. He was the best show dad, ever. He always had a rag in his pocket, ready to clean Morgan’s boots before she went into the show arena. Rick was man of the year, many times, for his involvement with Pop Warner Football. He loved working the BBQ at every game. Most of all, Rick loved his family and loved to cook.  He was most comfortable at home, watching TV, being with his family.

He loved his family dearly and led a rich, quiet, unassuming life. Everybody loved Rick, he was a good friend to all and would give you the shirt off his back, if you needed it. That’s just who he was. ALS took his life too soon. He will be missed dearly.

A celebration for life for Rick will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 3:00 PM at San Tan Mountain View Funeral Home, 21809 S. Ellsworth Rd., Queen Creek, Arizona, 85142.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Rick to Hospice of The Valley Donate (hov.org) or the ALS Association Dedicated to Finding a Cure for ALS | The ALS Association.
