Sally Jane Winterbotham, 81, of San Tan Valley, Arizona, passed away February 2, 2026. She was born in Dayton, Ohio to Roland and Margaret Griesmeyer on July 21, 1944, and was the youngest of two including her brother Roland “David”. Sally grew up in Kettering and graduated from Fairmont High.
Sally was a retired claims reinsurance specialist and had spent much of her time working in the insurance industry. She was a devoted wife of 54 years, having married Herbert on May 27th, 1966, in Montgomery County, Ohio, and a loving mother and grandmother. Sally and Herb moved from Ohio to Arizona in 1973 after the birth of their second daughter, Cheryl.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, husband and daughter, Cheryl Winterbotham, and is survived by daughter, Lori Hirsch and grandchildren, Lindsay Thompson and Zachary Hirsch.
A service for Sally will be held on Tuesday February 10, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at San Tan Mountain View Funeral Home with viewing just before at 9:30 a.m. She will be laid to rest at The National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona with her husband.
There are no words that can take away the pain of losing a mother, but I hope you find some comfort in the beautiful memories you shared. She raised an amazing daughter, and her light lives on through you. I’m here for whatever you need, always.
