William Earl Davies, 102, peacefully passed away on Thursday June 15th in Mesa, Arizona. William was born May 19th, 1921, in Dugger, Indiana, to his parents, Richard Ralph Davies (1882-1961) and Mattie B Abram (1886-1967) as well as grandmother, Nancy June Baker (1850-1929).

Bill and his twin sister, Anna Pearl Davies (1921-1941,) and also, sister, Deloris June Davies (born 1924), were raised in the coal mining town of Dugger until he graduated from Dugger Union High School in 1939.

He went on to serve in WWII as a radar repairman from April 16th, 1943-December 7th, 1945, with campaigns including Normandy, northern France, the Ardennes, and Germany. He was decorated with the American Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon with 6 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Ribbon and WWII Victory Medal.

Bill met and married beloved, Helen Rivers Everman/Davies, and had son, Donald C Davies and daughter, Debra L Davies. He then achieved and engineering degree and worked for both NCR in Dayton, Ohio and GMC as an engineer for decades.

His hobbies included being an avid golfer and tennis player, to which he enjoyed playing well into his 90’s, as well as almost any type of card game, especially euchre and poker in his active lifestyle community, which he lived in for almost 3 decades, making many friends along the way until his passing.

Bill is survived by his sister, June, his daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Joseph, grandson, Patrick Davies, great grandson, Shaun Davies, and close friends, Peggy, Howard, and Gary.

The funeral service is scheduled at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel, 7900 E. Main St., Mesa, AZ on Friday July 7th at 3:00 PM.
