Considering A Columbarium

More and more people are choosing cremation as an option. It is a simple and cost-effective alternative for interment. And, it provides you with choices when it comes to what to do with the remains. One such option is interment in a columbarium.

What exactly is a columbarium? A columbarium is a specially designed area comprised of cremation niches. These niches hold urns and cremated remains, as well as family mementos. A columbarium can be an entire building, a part of another building, or a stand-alone structure situated either indoors or outdoors.

The idea behind a columbarium is similar to that of ground burial. It still allows for a physical place to memorialize an individual, even though the remains have been cremated. As such, it does not require a casket nor a larger size burial plot.

Choosing a columbarium is a reasonable alternative to ground burial for a number of other reasons, including affordability. Cemeteries such as Mountain View offer different selections and price points for space in a columbarium. All of our mausoleums offer columbarium options with niches. As well, private family columbariums are available for those wanting to have a special place for family members.

One big advantage to choosing a columbarium is that they offer flexibility. For example, you can choose to take some of the cremated remains home in an urn and/or scatter them in a carefully chosen location. But, if you also want to inter in a columbarium, you can do that, too. That way, there is a designated place to pay your respects.

At Mountain View, we believe in providing choices for interment. If you are considering cremation, you may want to give some thought to a columbarium. They offer flexibility and affordability. And, they still provide the opportunity to memorialize your loved one for many years to come.
